Which brands are accepted for resale?

Seller // FAQs

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When you send us your clothes, they are hand-checked and sorted into two groups: resale and recirculate.

We only list quality items for resale. If we can’t resell an item, we'll recirculate it, which means it will be donated to charity or responsibly recycled.

Which items qualify for resale?

There are two things we’re looking for when deciding whether an item is destined for resale:

  1. From a recognisable brand (check our Brand Checker to see the full list)

  2. In tip-top condition

If you tick both these boxes, your clothes have the best chance of reselling.

Examples of brands we resell

Here are some examples of brands we do accept for resale. Head to our Brand Checker to see the full list.

High Street: Boden, Fat Face, White Stuff, Oliver Bonas, Celtic & Co.

Premium: &Other Stories, Whistles, COS, Hobbs, Phase Eight, Reiss, The North Face, Levi's, Diesel, AllSaints, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Boden, Superdry, French Connection, Adidas, Monsoon, Ted Baker, Jigsaw, Aspiga, dhb.

Designer: Kenzo, Chloe, Versace, Stella McCartney, Burberry, Missoni, Prada, Gucci, Moschino, Acne Studios, Alexander McQueen, Comme des Garçons, PAROSH.

Remember, if the brand isn't listed as "accepted" on the Brand Checker list, we'll recirculate it.

What tip-top condition means:

High Street:

Items must be in like-new condition with zero defects.

Premium:

Good and above. Items without defects or significant signs of wear.

Designer:

Fair and above. Items with minor defects or signs of wear.

What gets the red light?

Across the board, we don’t accept clothes with stains, rips, or marks.

What gets recirculated?

Here are some examples of brands that don't qualify for resale. These will be listed on our Brand Checker as "recirculated (will be donated or recycled)".

High street: Primark, Tu, George, Shein Premium, ASOS, Zara, Mango, Next, Oasis, Hollister, River Island, Topshop.

The reason we don’t accept these brands for resale is that their clothes tend to have a limited lifespan. That means they won’t be high enough quality to resell and will need to be recirculated.

You can still send us these items but they'll be donated to charity or responsibly recycled.

We will also recirculate:

  • Items without their brand and care labels

  • Brands that do not appear as "accepted" on our Brand Checker

  • Unbranded items or unrecognisable brands

  • Clothes with stains, rips, or marks

  • Counterfeit items

Other important bits

  • We can’t send items back once we've received them.

  • If the brand isn't appearing on our Brand Checker it will be recirculated (donated to charity or responsibly recycled).

  • Some high street brands will only be accepted for resale if they have their original tags - check our Brand Checker to find out if this applies to your item.

  • If an item is likely to sell for less than £5, it may not be eligible for resale and will be recirculated.

  • We assess the estimated RRP value of an item and its secondhand appeal. "Basic" items do not usually pass our resale quality control, as shoppers can easily buy these very cheaply new.

  • Premium brands sell quickly for a great price. Fill up your Thrift+ Bag with clothes you no longer wear that tick the boxes above. The higher your item sells for, the more you earn.

The main takeaway? Quality is everything.

And we promise we’re not fussy for no reason. All of the above is to ensure we can find a second home for your pre-loved clothes.
